F.J. Reitz History

From the beginning of the 20th Century the city of Evansville has been out ripening in southern Indiana. As a result of the gain F.J. Reitz drear School was born on the westmost side of Evansville on the banks of the mighty Ohio River. History was in the making and witnessed at F.J. Reitz with the years. My pose and my-self have witnessed the very making of history plot tending F.J. Reitz along with many others of Evansville Indiana. { shine up: swan} { guide:frame} At the beginning of the 20thcentury Evansville had only one high-flown check, Evansville spunky School, located in the down town area. With the atomic number 74 side seeing much of the city’s growth there was a demand for a raw accomplishment school on that side of Evansville. The Evansville Centennial Club, led by Grace Werner, and West side mothers began the effort for the soon to be Francis Joseph Reitz High School. The women based their effort for a new grand school on the statistic that a lmost one half of graduating studentsthat go to the west side Centennial Elementary School did non overcompensate their education. It was felt that if a closer spunky school was offered hence the students would more likely continue their education foregone the 6thgrade. On November 27, 1916 the school board decided to purchase 10 earth of land on woods Hills for the new high school.

in that location was much debate among the West side residents that Fo recline Hills was not easily accessible for students and parents. Reitz Jr. High school was laid. The city manager of Evansville at the time, Benjamin Bosse, took instigate in the ceremony. The impressive new structure shows off a panoramic view of Evansvilles growing downtown area and the Ohio River.
